Every 3-5 Years

Consider a professional maintenance recoat. This involves lightly abrading the existing finish and applying a new topcoat. It's less expensive and less invasive than a full refinish and extends the life of your floor significantly.

Every 7-10 Years

High-traffic areas may need refinishing. This involves sanding down to bare wood and applying new stain (if desired) and finish coats.

Signs You Need Refinishing

Visible scratches that don't buff out, gray or dark areas (indicating moisture penetration through worn finish), dull appearance that cleaning can't restore, or peeling/flaking finish.
